Muskoka Montessori School: Toddler News SABRINA PARK CAMPUS
Hello Toddler Families,
I hope that you all had a nice fall break. I was delighted to see how happy the children were to return to school and how quickly and easily they got back into our school routines.
As you know, we continue to share the Community room space with other groups and tenants in the building. I would like to give an enormous thank you to Nora Bartlett for all her help with the set up and putting away of our classroom materials. Nora is also spending time in the classroom and she is lovely with the children. Nora is a wonderful addition to our program.
Grace & Courtesy
One of the important aspects of the toddler program is Grace and Courtesy. Grace and Courtesy lessons provide the child with the tools necessary to operate socially. I am always modelling the appropriate language for the children in different situations. For example: When we serve food during snack, the children are reminded when to say “please” and “thank you”. If there is a child in the way, “excuse me, please” is used.
I am hearing a lot of grace and courtesy in our classroom. It is wonderful to see the children learning and using the appropriate language in these different situations.
It is so great that we are able to take the children outdoors each day. This is a time in our morning routine that the toddler look forward to. Our time outdoors is a wonderful opportunity to learn about nature and to utilize the large muscles in our body. It is important for toddler to move! This helps in the development of their muscles and their co-ordination.
As the weather is becoming colder, please make sure that your child comes to school with appropriate outdoor clothing: a warm coat, boots, hat and mittens.
